Hello wonderful team! :) My name is Emily Lundy. You can go ahead and call me Emily, but I adore being called Em or Emmy as well. I just turned 19 on December 13th, and I’m a freshman at a tiny private Christian college, majoring in Intercultural Studies. I don’t really know what I want “to do” yet haha, but I’ve had a heart for missions since the 8th grade and can see myself doing some sort of ministry overseas after I graduate.
I was born and grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, but I currently live in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota where I am going to school at Crown College. It’s a small town kind of in the middle of nowhere, but we’re only about 40 minutes away from Minneapolis, which means Mall of America visits are a must!
In my free time, I’m usually hanging out with my friends and my boyfriend. Movie nights are pretty often. We have to make up our own fun a lot of the time since there is not a lot around here :) Over this last weekend however, I went tubing (which I had never done before) and it was awesome :) Let's see... my other hobbies... I love music and like a little bit of everything. I've been playing the piano since 2nd grade, so that's a love of mine. I also have played violin since 4th grade, but not much anymore. I picked up guitar over the last year and am pretty horrid at it :) I have a couple of friends who are helping me learn though. I also love singing :) Besides that, I have really loved photography as well, and I like fiddling around with my camera. I'd love to get better at taking pictures.
My likes: Summertime, cuddling, stupid movies, hot chocolate, journaling/blogging, camping/outdoors, sunshine, naps, readings, breakfast, sunrises, making a new friend, dogs, green grass, strawberries, photography.
Dislikes: Freezing cold weather, being stressed out, paper cuts, too much homework, losing my chapstick (which I do weekly), locking myself out of my room (which I did yesterday).
I’ve been really blessed with opportunities to go on mission trips in the past. My very first mission trip was in 8th grade with my church to Juarez, Mexico. That’s when God really gave me the passion for missions. He really broke my heart to the poverty, but showed me how universal he is… he’s not just for the people at my church or in America, but everyone! Everyone needs him. I went to Port-au-Prince, Haiti for a week in the summer of 2010. Then, last summer I went to Uganda, Africa (through AIM!) for a month. I learned a lot during my time in Africa, and there’s definitely a big piece of my heart that is there and with my team I went with last summer. It’s a little bittersweet heading out again this summer with a new team to a new place, but I’m very excited. I was not expecting this to be God’s plan for me this summer, but I know without a doubt this is where I belong :). Much love to all of you! It won’t be long till we’re all united :).
