Hey everybody!

    My name's Shelby Anderson. I'm from Olathe, Kansas (about 30min. away from Kansas City.) I've been here for all of my 19 years. I'm currently a sophomore at the University of Kansas, and I'm working toward my Bachelors in Psychology. I love the subject and my classes so far! My family technically consists of my mom and dad, who have been married for 24 years now. They're the best example I could ask for. Then my sister, Jordan, and her husband, Jason, are the next greatest examples in my life! Then, there's my little brother, Logan, who is by far my favorite person on this planet. Then of course, there is my cat, Sghetti. Mark my words, I will be a crazy cat lady. 

     I work at a daycare on my campus, and it's one of the best jobs I could have ever asked for. I usually just work with kids between the ages of 1 and 3, so it's an adventure for sure. Other than support letters, it's my financial source for Thailand, so it's all worth it. When I'm not working or in class (which is only nights and weekends), I'm either reading, playing my guitar, doing photography, or hanging out with some of my roommates. I have 7 roommates! They're all Christian girls. I've been so bless to be able to live with them and be inspired by them daily! We have THE most random themed days/parties at our house. We've had a full moon party where everyone wore white and it was all candle lit and we had this awesome folk band (SO FUN!), and we are having a 90's theme party next week. Tonight we're actually having a “Man Night” where we grill out and drink root beer and do man stuff... seriously, I have no idea which of them comes up with this stuff. Haha.

     Likes, Dislikes, and Talents.. Well, I'm one of photography's biggest fans. I love digital, but 35mm is still my favorite. I've been playing guitar for about 10 years now, but you wouldn't be able to tell! I'm nowhere close to being good at it, so I'm not sure I could list it as a talent. Usually, when I'm in need of a therapy sessions, those two things and painting are the most helpful things! Still, music is one of the most important things to me! I keep typing things out to describe how I feel about music, but I don't know how to explain it. I just can't thank the Lord enough for it. I have 2 tattoos. One is “eucharisteo” on my wrist. It's a greek concept of thankfulness. It basically means, “you've been given grace, in that find joy.” Then I have a sunflower behind my ear, because the Kansas state flower is a sunflower, duhh! Pride in my state!!

     I went on my first missions trip about 6 years ago. It was to Ensenada, Mexico, and then I got the chance to go on the same trip the next year! We did VBS both years and just hung out with people in the neighborhoods. I got to see so many healings and hear a ton of testimonies! It was incredible. Then, I got the opportunity to go to Zambia, Africa with Global Expeditions in the summer of 2010. I came home with a million and one stories which I would be happy to talk about face to face.

     I think I'm excited about the same thing as you all are! I'm positive that God's given us all the same heart for missions and for the women and girls trapped in the sex trade. Basically, a few years ago, God began to talk to me about what my purpose was. He told me that He intended for me to be like a mother to those without one, because I was really blessed by my own mother and father. Then, about a year ago, God poured a vision over me of young women being set free. This issue is the thing that makes me most righteously angry, so I'm going after it just like all of you are, and I'm really excited to be able to meet people with the same vision and hope!
